• Hi there,

I have a site running English and Chinese text. When I input a Chinese character slug into the qTranslate slug input, it saves, but the input value then seems to be encoded in some way.

    Eg, I input this:
    咨询

And after save the value is this:
    %e5%92%a8%e8%af%a2

Throughout the rest of the wp-admin Chinese characters display correctly.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for using qts!

yes, it converts the slug. i need to check that box to convert back.

you will find that you won’t be able to use utf8 chars in the translation of the terms slug.

for example, if you try to translate category to 類別, it won’t work. sorry. you’ll have to use ascii

OK, cool. So, this is a database limitation only?

When I actually visit the URL with the utf8 characters in it everything works, so the only issue for me is that admin users might be confused when they see the ascii text displayed. Is there a way to convert that value to utf8 just for display purposes but still save it as ascii in the database?

Thanks for writing the plugin – it’s working great!

no, for the terms problems, the limitation is me ??
I can’t figure out how to create the rewrite rules with utf8. i know they work with utf8 chars in posts/pages etc, but in terms wp just doesn’t detect qts rewrite rules.

as for the slug box, its easy. i just need to review the last commits and hope to release a new version soon.

    enjoy!
