• Hello,

I’m trying to create a home page for this site that displays only ONE complete blog post on the homepage, and then, in a menu perhaps in a column to the right, I could have links to other posts from the month, and then perhaps, an archive to older posts under that.

Right now, all of my posts are displaying as excerpts on the front page. (These are temporary placeholder posts btw)

    Thank you for your help!

    Chris

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @chriscaldwell11 if you add the Query Loop block and toggle off the option to Inherit query from template you will see settings for choosing the number of items to show and also add filters to control which content to be displayed.

The workaround would be to set the number of items per page to 1, inside the Query Loop make sure you have the Post Content block instead of the Post Excerpt block.

Then you can use filters to control which posts will be displayed. You can read more about the query block and how to do this here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/query-loop-block/#block-settings

in a menu perhaps in a column to the right, I could have links to other posts from the month, and then perhaps, an archive to older posts under that.

I would create post archive templates that display posts using the query loop block, I will then use the block filters to control what can be displayed on each archive page. This would be possible to achieve maybe if you add tags or keywords that reflect which month this post was created and you can use that as a filter. Additionally, the older by setting can be used for older posts.

However, if you would like you can check to see if there are any plugins which you can use to create direct links to these archive pages:
