Display Product category based on user capability

Hello,
I use “Groups” plugin on my site to create group of users and assign custom capabilities to read posts/pages. Also Woocommerce 2.2.8.
In the “Shop” page my products are divided in categories and subcategories (displayed). I set some of the products (via “Groups” plugin) to be displayed only to certain group of users. This works fine, meaning that users that have no access to these products cannot see them, but they can still see the Category and subcategory buttons (with no products inside).
Is there something I can add to functions.php that hides a certain product category on the shop page to users which don’t have a certain capability?
