Display widget depending on post tags

    Hi there! I know, you don’t have this option yet, but I was wondering if you are going to apply any update in the future so we can display a different widget depending on the post tags. For example, if I have 5 posts with “Barcelona” label, it would be wonderful to show always the same widget related to “Barcelona” only on those posts.

    Sorry for my beginner’s English ??

    I considered adding Tags as an option like you see with Categories (under Categories +/-), it means adding another set of options identical to the “Categories +/-” options for tags.

    My concern was/is some WordPress users add a lot of Tags to their sites, some sites have hundreds (some thousands of tags!) and each Widget under the “Appearance > Widgets” options page would have to load all the Tags so users can tick them etc…

    This could cause timeouts (500 errors) as the widgets options struggle to load.

    I’d like to add tags, but would have to find a work around for sites with a lot of tags: no idea how to do that right now, so no plan to add Tags as a future feature.

    What a pitty! It would be REALLY GREAT to have this option.

    I know nothing about technical issues, but… what if you put a search box instead a list of tags? Users would search their “used tags” and then tick them.

    I was looking for this functionality as well. One possible workaround would be to accept a comma-delimited list of tag_ids, instead of having to render out the entire list of tags for them to click. It might not be as friendly for non-technical people, but it’s simple enough for anyone to learn.

    How can I add more widget logic?

    I recommend using the Widget Logic Plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/widget-logic/ for adding additional widget logic. As you can see from the FAQ I’ve considered adding it to the Display Widgets SEO Plus Plugin as it hadn’t been updated for a couple of years. As it happens the plugin was updated less than a week ago, not tested the latest version, the old one worked fine with this plugin in my tests.

    The Widget Logic plugin uses the same concept as this plugin, but you have to create the logic in code form. More hassle to use, but a good plugin for covering things not covered by this plugin.
