  • Any updates on this? I see some posts from 4 years ago, but surely those are out of date.

I am waiting for an update on this also…..

‘I need to to change this so it picks up the alt&title and NOT from the description box?

My Client has hundreds of images importing and it is a major job to cut and paste from the Alt&title box to the description box. Why is this defaulted to the wrong field?

Any one know how I can change this so the image displays the caption from the Alt&title field?? Need this ASAP as my client has a major shoot to upload in the next couple of days!’

    Very frustrating ??

@delflux If you link the gallery to a page > Manage galleries > gallery > link to page, the gallery takes the page title.

Cool, but what about say thumbnail image names? How can these be shown without using the description box?

All I need is to desplay the jpeg name on the image in the thumbnail gallery using the already populated alt&title box????

Thanks, Tizz. I found that info out from another thread. So, I’ll chime in here and say that I found that solution to be helpful. I was linking to the gallery page directly, but (1) it wasn’t displaying the gallery title, and (2) it had an awful URL. So, using an individual page to display the gallery is really a better solution, as it solves both these problems. And, I can add some extra text on the page also, if I need it.

@tizz – Yes. I knew that but it would be nice to have it display the gallery title name on the generated gallery thumbnail pages. Just another confusing step especially for someone who isn’t very knowledgeable with WordPress.

to have it display the gallery title name on the generated gallery thumbnail pages

Please post a link of the page that you mean, because what I said does just what you ask for. Read also what Quimbly said.
Or maybe I don’t really understand what you mean.

I actually ended up removing Nextgen and used Jetpacks Gallery instead.

@tizz – I get what you’re saying but you have to create a page manually instead of it being automatically generated based on whatever gallery you click on in the album listing.

but…when you display an album listing with all the galleries being listed on a page/post and click on a gallery, it takes you to that gallery on a new page. The title of that gallery isn’t displayed on the new page, just the album title…so you don’t know what gallery you’re actually looking at.

Their used to be workarounds on the older versions of Nextgen but they don’t work on the new versions.
