Displaying Images Based On Date

Okay…this may be the wrong place to post this so I apologize in advance. But I’m looking for a PHP script that will pull files from a “comics” folder and display them based on date. The file format is “YYYY-mm-dd.gif”

Is there a way to put the image into a plain old frame or html page using a PHP script? Thank you!
