Displaying Previous | Next Posts (or Pages) with Excerpt

It’s pretty straight forward to grab the previous and next posts’ title and thumbnail but I’m having fits trying to figure out how to grab those respective posts excerpts and display them as well to give the reader some more context. Anybody have any success with this? Apparently, there’s little on the internets about this.
