Displaying some categories in slider/carousel

Hi everyone!

I am currently trying to display some specific categories in a slider/carousel. Given that I have a featured image for each category, I want them to be displayed on my homepage. But I haven’t found any plugin that offers this capability. I have only managed to do so for images or even posts, but not categories.
Is it possible to do this? I would appreciate any ideas for plugins or articles that would help me on this!
