Displaying Variable Products

This sounds exactly like a simple product. Why would you want to use a variable product for that?

Hello, Marcin, & thanks for your reply. Here is the scenario. The business is a silk flower shop. She basically has 19 different products, ie, bridal bouquet (both round & cascaded), maid of honor bouquet, toss bouquet, various decorations, etc. She groups these by attributes, ie, coral-ivory-cream, orange-fall-cala-lilly, black-orange-daisy, red-blue-white, etc. So a variable product would be the ideal setup for this. But once a customer goes to a page w/products having a chosen attribute, then only those products should be displayed. I hope I’m making myself clearer now?

Wouldn’t it be better to use these attributes as categories, and the products as simple products?

Perhaps, Marcin, & I’ve thought about that. From the point of view of changing product prices & stuff, though, it seems like product variations would make all that easier, would it not?

Well, it would, but implementing such a display mechanism would inherently be problematic, at the very least. You can assign attributes to specific categories, though, so I’d look into that ??

I think likely the easiest solution is simply to implement a custom product type, ie, a mixed or flex product for this, 1 where the characteristics of both simple & variable products can be accessed. The advantage to Jigoshop, of course, is that, if my research is correct, there are quite a few folks on the net asking for such a feature, & it would give your plugin a way to really stand out from Woocommerce & not be simply a “me, woo” plugin, as it were. I’m not trying to be disrespectful here–far from it–but when I initially installed Jigoshop, my 1st question was, “What’s the difference between this & Woo?” Having a stand-out feature can’t hurt–& I think could really help JS to gain some traction. Just thinking aloud, which for me is always a dangerous thing.
