Disqus and Theme Comment Conflict?

I’m using Silver Orchid Theme and I have Disqus – both for a new site I set up.

Problem #1: When you are on the homepage the comment indicator for a post will read “no comments” even if there are in fact three comments. When you click on the individual post then the comment indicator will correctly say “3 comments.”

Problem #2: When you are on the homepage the comment indicator for a post will show a comment as a ping back. That is, contrary to when someone leaves a comment and it reads “no comments” on the home page, it will in fact say there is “1 comment.” BUT, when you then click the post to see the comment – which is in fact a ping back – now it is the opposite to Problem #1. The comment indicator will incorrectly say “no comments” when it should read at least one: the ping back.

Can someone offer some guidance as to how to fix this problem? Thanks
