Well, possibly it’s a disqus problem and not connected to our CDN.

    edit: no, it’s not

Hey Scof check this out if you go into the disqus settings you are going to see this:

    Patches

Template Conflicts Output JavaScript in footer
Enable this if you have problems with comment counts or other irregularities. For example: missing counts, counts always at 0, Disqus code showing on the page, broken image carousels, or longer-than-usual home page load times (more info).

I’m planning on trying enabling this as it seems disqus is putting html code on page that shouldn’t be there…

    what do you think?

    Didn’t work…

it’s not other plugins, it’s disqus, i’m sure it’s gonna get fixed soon

I can confirm it’s not any other plugin, it’s Disqus. Just started today for me. Hope there is a fix soon!

I’m also having a similar problem. Site is hosted at HostGator on a shared server. CloudFlare is on. With Disqus on, we get an intermittent problem that some pages don’t load completely. When we turn Disqus off, we can’t find a page that doesn’t load properly.

Problem started Sunday, 6/23. That was shortly after a rather major change to the site, though, so we didn’t tie it to Disqus until today.

We migrated the site to a simple Linux box. So no CloudFlare and a nearly unloaded (but small) server. This alternate site works fine with Disqus on.

So I agree that it is a Disqus problem. But it is complicated by CloudFlare and/or shared hosting under medium traffic.

I have sent email to Disqus support. Waiting for a response. I’ll post if I learn more.

I think we have found a solution. We won’t know for sure until we hit the next spike in visits, which will happen next week after the 4th of July holiday weekend.

We compared the software stack running at HostGator and on the local host. Partly based on a recent post by Joost de Valk (https://yoast.com/mea-culpa-on-a-bad-update-lessons-learned/), we noticed that HostGator was still running PHP 5.2, while the local server is running 5.3. HostGator provides 5.3 via a mod to .htaccess. When we updated the site to 5.3 and reenabled Disqus, everything started working again.

I hope this helps somebody … I’m glad we got to a reasonable solution.
