Distinguishing production v staging backups

I’d like some easy way to distinguish backups coming from my production site from those coming from my duplicated staging site, and avoid the possibility of filename collisions.
Is it possible, maybe, to add some symbols for values other than time to the replacement patters that can substitute likely system values?
