• Please consider removing the Toolbar/Overlay. I’m a IAAP certified Web Accessibility Specialist and I can safely tell you that accessibility overlays are NOT advisable. I’ll let you do your own research, but here’s a good place to start: https://shouldiuseanaccessibilityoverlay.com/

PS. Thank you for your work on this plugin and your interest in accessibility! <3

  • How would you suggest it be done?

I don’t understand your question. Maybe I should clarify my request… Omit the toolbar, delete it, don’t have it be a part of this plugin, have the developer highlight the code and hit the “delete” button. ??

Sorry, let me clarify, what would make it better instead of just deleting the toolbar some sites might need it since they would not have space to place their Assistive options and this toolbar could help with it having it on the top side of the site?

I would for example suggest to have it on focus out of it or any click out of it close it, also not having it open by itself on focus, and a tooltip maybe with some aria to indicate it is a menu that has an Assistive tool.

Also, I would suggest the author fix the WC3 warnings which seem to be on their GitHub repository but not yet published here.

Now if you do not like the toolbar what would you substitute it with when you suggest deleting the toolbar?

I agree the menu is not ideal, and has to be closed using only the open/close button, rather than clicking anywhere away from it.

I submitted a request on the Github for the ability to place each accessibility option with a shortcode, as its own toggle button, wherever the designer pleases. This would make the option(s) one-click/tap and allow them to be placed in a dedicated area.

I do wish the developer of this was more active, it’s a fantastic plugin.
