• We’ve been using the Store Locator Plus plugin for years without problem. Recently, we had an issue where part of the plugin stopped working. I did some searching in the forum and found some other people with a similar problem, but no solutions. I submitted my own forum post, and received a response pretty quickly. After a few back-and-forths, I was able to resolve the issue all within the same day. Very impressive! Thanks for a great plugin and great support.

    Thanks for the positive comments!

Yes, SLP 5 did change what happens when a user types in an address to search for on the map. This reduces your Google API costs slightly AND gives your users a bit more security (read our news post at https://www.storelocatorplus.com for details on that and what those changes mean).

The security on pre-existing Google API key needs to be updated, which is the issue you ran into. Glad you got it sorted out.

Thank you for using the SLP forum to post your issue and for the review. It helps a lot of others (or might point them in the right direction). A lot of people are confused with Googles switch and terms regarding the use of the MAP and Geocoding API and unfortunately they blame the Store locator Plus plugin. We wish more people would reach out to us and allow us to assist them before leaving negative reviews, hopefully your input here will help. The developer and author has written a few more recent articles on the subject

I appreciate the new articles about this subject. The one on protecting your Google API keys was especially helpful. The articles helped clear up the issue for me. It would be helpful if the new articles could be added as links next to the Google API key interface in WordPress.
