Hi! It looks like there might be a conflict between The Events Calendar plugin (free) and Divi’s theme builder. I had a styled tag page built using Divi’s theme builder but it stopped applying to post tag pages after I installed The Events Calendar.

Except for the first one, all links on the expandable menu on the left side of the link I included are tag pages. They are now just displaying Divi’s default theme without any styling when you visit the tag pages but displaying fine from within the Divi theme builder.

I know The Events Calendar combines event tags with post tags but I’m not using any event tags. I expected the Divi theme builder to apply its Tag pages theme to all tags (events AND posts) but I’m getting neither.

When I deactivated The Events Calendar to troubleshoot, WordPress threw up a “critical error” notice.

Any help with this issue is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi @jillianneh

Thanks for reaching out. Let me help you with this one.

To know more about the “critical error”, could you create a staging version of your live site, enable debugging, and try replicating the error from there? It should now show a more detailed error message that can help us investigate the issue further.

Moreover, could you also try running a conflict test??I suggest conducting these tests on a Staging Server.

If that doesn’t help, please provide the version of the following. This will help me understand how your system is set up.

    • PHP
    • WordPress
    • The Events Calendar
    • Divi Builder
    • Divi Theme

    Hey @jillianneh,

I did some research and found a similar–though not identical–issue with Divi’s CSS being overwritten when our plugin is activated. That issue is being worked on now between us and Elegant Themes. Though we can promise no fixed timetable, the fix ought to be out relatively soon.

Regarding the critical error, if you could provide a debug log or the critical error message itself that would be very helpful!

You can also try to flush your permalinks by going to Settings > Permalinks and simply clicking the Save Changes button

    Best!

Hi! Yes, I found out about the Divi/TEC conflict thing this morning from the Divi team. Unfortunate but I’m mostly happy to learn that I couldn’t have fixed it no matter what! Converting my tags to categories now so no major harm done.

I will probably set up a staging version of the site and run the tests you mentioned post-launch in a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. -J

I am also having issues with Divi + Event calendar. Event calendar plugin is up to date and active, category tags will not utilize a custom template set for tags (Divi > Theme Builder > Set template to Archived – Tags).

When I deactivate the plugin I get a critical error across the site.

Any update on when this is going to be resolved?

    Hi @jrwebdev

    Thanks for your message.

For us to follow WP Forum guidelines, please open a new thread and provide additional details on the issues you’re experiencing. A screenshot or screen recording would be great.

The?release of?The?Events?Calendar?6.0.12 in April broke?the?functionality of any?Divi?Theme Builder Archive page for WordPress Tags. The archive template no longer applies and instead shows a default WordPress page. Disabling? The?Events?Calendar?solves?this?problem.

I have had an open ticket with The Events Calendar paid support since May 11th and they were able to replicate the issue on their side on May 23rd. The latest word that I have received on the issue was June 15th when their support rep wrote, “I can assure you that the team is actively working on resolving this issue.”

It’s now August 10th and the current version 6.1.3 of The Events Calendar still has this bug with Divi. You currently have to keep your plugin on version 6.0.11 for full compatibility with the Divi theme.

    Hi there,

We’re happy to inform that this issue is already fixed on version 6.1.4.

Please update your Events Calendar plugin to apply that to your website.

Well done! I can confirm that version 6.1.4 has fixed this conflict with Divi tag templates on my site. Thank you!
