When Smush is on, the images that display in the blue testimonials sections at the bottom of these 2 pages, become bottom justified instead of middle justified. I’ve turned Smush off for now and its fine. Just wondering why and how it can be fixed so I can keep the plugin on to prevent any attacks I heard can happen when plugins are deactivated but not deleted.

Do you need Smush turned back on on my side to see the problem?
This is what it looks like when on:https://i.imgur.com/UcSK6nl.png
FYI the images only show like this for the first carousel run then go back to normal…

  • Hello @brazmus

    I hope you’re doing well!

Please elaborate a little bit more on this issue? Is this happens when teh Smush plugin activated, with all features inside deactivated? Or it this happening when Lazy Loading in Smush is enabled?

Please activate the Smush please and see if lazy loading is enabled. If yes, please deactivate it and check how the Slider on your site will appear.
If the issue coming from lazy loading, please add this CSS class to exclusions field:
    .active
This will exclude images inside the slider from a lazy load.

As for the attacks on deactivated plugins, a code injection can happen though
an enabled plugin. It depends if a plugin has a security hole. For this reason, keep all your plugins up to date, and consider securing your site with a security plugin, like Defender for example.

Thanks! Yes it was the lazy loader.

This I need further clarification on…

If the issue coming from lazy loading, please add this CSS class to exclusions field:
    .active

Where is the exclusion field? Within the Smush plugin?

    Thanks!

    Hello @brazmus,

Yes, this is inside Smush. You can navigate to your site Dashboard-> Smush-> Lazyload-> Include/Exclude-> Classes& Id’s. Here is the screenshot for the same:

    Hello @brazmus

    I trust you’re doing well!

I’ve checked the Divi theme looks like the Slider is not compatible with lazy loading (source).

You may try enabling lazy loading and excluding pages where the Divi Slider is located to avoid any issues. To exclude a home page from being lazy loaded, please go to the Smush > Lazy Loading, and toggle off Frontpage option under Include/Exclude. Please see this screenshot:

Have a good day anD take care!

    Unfortunately not ??

Still didn’t work. So I’ll just keep it off. It’s not essential to have it on easy it? The images have been smushed.

    Hi @brazmus

There’s not that many images on these pages so I’d risk saying that Lazy Load wouldn’t have that much impact on performance improvement in this case. It’s a nice “cherry on top” but not necessary.

New WordPress 5.5 also has its own Lazy Load feature built-in. I honestly don’t know if it’s compatible with this slider on your site or not but if it is, it would automatically be applied.

Modern browsers also attempt to do Lazy Load on images so in some cases it’s there just “out of the box”. Using Smush one provides a greater control and lazy load for some additional images (such as e.g. background images) but if the slider is not compatible, it might be necessary to disable it or at least exclude pages with the slider form it.

    Best regards,
    Adam
