DNS Hosting Issue

Hello:

I’ve recently purchased a domain name through wordpress and hosting through go daddy.

In order to connect the accounts, I changed the name servers to the ones provided by go daddy. However this did not seem to work (waited the complete period). So when I called go daddy, I was then told that the name servers should be left as wordpress name servers but the A NAME (IP ADDRESS) should be changed to the one on the go daddy site.

Any help figuring out what the correct solution would be is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
