DNS Issue?

    I just migrated my blog over to a new host. I also made the request at my domain registrar to chance the DNS addresses to those of my new host, and recieved confirmation this morning that the update was successful.

    I guess that my question and problem is that some people are seeing my site at the new host and others are seeing at the old host? For example I wrote a new post and it’s showing up for me when i browse to the site, but not when I browse to the supplied default domain name from my hosting company.

    I think it’s simply a DNS propagation issue, or is it something .htaccess related? I’m just not sure. I get the feeling that when I made the new entry it was through my old installation of wordpress, not the one located on my new server.

  • Put your domain in the top right box here:
    https://www.dnsstuff.com/
    and see what your authoritative name server is. This will give you a hint. I’ve seen name changes take as long as 48 hours to propagate. Be willing to wait.

    Thanks. Looks like my domain is pointing to the right DNS server. But that is different from propagation, right? So I may end up still being directed to the WP install on my old host until the DNS change propagates to my ISP? Guess you are right, I will just have to sit tight.
