• I am a newbie. I had a guy put wordpress on my site.

I was trying to resecure the site and now I dont have any tools.

Here is what I had done:

    I changed wp-config.php to this
    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘carterson2’);

In phpmyadmin I changed wp_user to this:
    user

I don’t see any tools or anything. Am I just a normal user???
    https://www.wikispeedia.org/wordpress/wp-admin
    I use carterson2 and password.

It logs in, but all I see is this:
    see this

    Thanks for any leads.
    This is an amazing product.

  • I think the short answer to your question is yes – if you want more rights you’ll need admin or at least a higher level of access.

From looking at your screenshot you’ve probably been set up as a subscriber.

    It’s all here: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Roles_and_Capabilities

It’s generally good practice from a web developer’s point of view to only give your clients as much access as they need to perform the required tasks.

That way there’s less chance of them breaking things.

If there’s stuff you need to do but can’t then ask your developer to change your user role.

    Hope that helps.

    Joel

You can use an admin account to make another account for yourself at any user level, then use whichever level of access you need at any given time. And if you wish, there are ways to easily switch from one account to another:
