  • h1 – h6 is used for headers. You would only use them if you want to display a header.
h1-h6 are tags and not fonts same as <p> and <span>. It used to determine the weight of the font in your design. You can change the font-size and weight using css.

serif fonts just means the font has the little nipples at the end.
san-serif means there is no nipple at the ends of the fonts.

It doesn’t mean anything other then that. So almost all fonts are either Serif or San-serif. Either it has the little nipples at the points or it doesn’t.

There are many websites that show different font pairing. There no right are wrong answer. Usually you are looking for fonts that go well together. It usually better to limit the number of fonts for your site. Most people select a font for the header and another for the content. If you want to change font pairing you will probably have to create a child theme and enqueue the new fonts in the functions.php and override the old font pairing in your style.css file. You can check out sites like https://fontpair.co/ for font pairing. Their a large number of these sites. Just look for fonts that go together well.
