I’m using a custom post type in my site. For that, I’ve created custom pages, but aside from that, the template files are stock standard.

Will those pages be deleted when I update the theme or do I need to create a child theme?

  • Hi napalmx37

    Thanks for posting.

You’ll only need a child theme if you’ve edited files in the vantage theme folder at a code level. If you used a plugin like CPT UI to create your custom post type and haven’t edited theme files at a code level then a child theme isn’t required.

(When themes or plugins update the folder in question is overwritten, a child theme exists in a separate folder thereby protecting your changes from being overwritten.)
