    Hi,

I would like to track my website/WooCommerce using GA4. If I use Google Site Kit , do I still need the WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration plugin (to track site data but also my sales, type of products sold, etc.)?

    Thank you

Thanks for reaching out @nickpetersres. If you’re using Site Kit, the plugin can can display basic Google Analytics data within the plugin dashboard. The data shown here won’t display WooCommerce specific data.

With regards using the WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration plugin, this may provide additional WooCommerce specific features, I can’t be sure but you can reach out in this plugin support forums and enquire about the features of this plugin.

Note also that you can use both plugins if you wish, as Site Kit can still display data based on the connected Google Analytics property without inserting the snippet. This can be useful if you are using your other Analytics plugin to insert the snippet.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Thank you, James. I’m trying to combine the benefits of both plugins (i.e. data about the website + data about the ecommerce sales) while avoiding compatibility issues (such as inserting the snippet twice). I’m not sure if the other plugin inserts the same snippet so will Site Kit detect the existing one (or any new one as the WooCommerce plugin was installed after Site Kit) and stops itself from inserting the snippet too?

Basically, I’m not sure which plugin is inserting the snippet on the site and if they automatically work together to avoid double counting.

    Thanks

Thank you, James. I’m trying to combine the benefits of both plugins…

    That makes perfect sense.

?I’m not sure if the other plugin inserts the same snippet so will Site Kit detect the existing one (or any new one as the WooCommerce plugin was installed after Site Kit) and stops itself from inserting the snippet too?

I believe the other plugin can insert the snippet, and you’re correct that ideally you shouldn’t have more than one placed. Luckily, Site Kit can detect existing snippets when setting up, or you can change the settings (Site Kit > Settings > Analyitcs > Edit > Place Google Analytics 4 code) so that Site Kit remains connected but it no longer inserts the snippet. That way you’ll have only a snippet placed via your other plugin, while using the Site KIt dashboard as normal.

To ensure you always only have one snippet active, you can use the tagassistant.google.com service. I’m happy to check your site at any stage if you wish to let me know when you’ve configured both plugins to your liking.

Thank you James, that’s much appreciated.

So I’ve just changed the parameters of Site Kit to stop inserting the snippet (assuming it’s inserted by the other Woocommerce plugin). The website is https://www.realestatespreadsheets.com

Are you able to quickly see if everything is running as expected?

    Thanks

Not a problem, happy to assist. I took a look at your site now and I can see my site visits are tracking, as are other visits to your site (screenshot). They are tracking against a G-QT****7HZB property, which wasn’t added via Site Kit.

I can also confirm that this is the only GA4 property active for this site.
