Do I need to also set up Tracking?

I’m trying to figure out Google Content Experiments step by step. The page at:
… says I first need to set up tracking (halfway down the page) and gives directions at this link:

SO – with the plugin installed, do I also need to make the changes the above link suggests or will it work as is?
