• Hi all,
I am in the process of migrating my tags to GA4 (Thanks @thomas for the amazing guide document). One thing that maybe you can correct is that if you do all the steps together, the new GA4 Configuration Tag can’t be found for the events tag until you publish.

That said, the question is if I have to change the property ID in GTM4WP from the old ID (Universal) to the new ID. And also, if by using GTM I still need to manually create a new stream in GA4. I want to avoid double tagging.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

GA4 a completely different system, replacing IDs wouldn’t work.

If you are implementing GA4, a GA4 config tag is always needed before publishing your container. There you can set the measurement ID (which is NOT the property ID in GA4, the format is like ‘G-XXXXXXXXXX’). This is all set in your GTM container and within your GA4 tags, not within GTM4WP plugin settings.

    Thanks Thomas, I see.

So I guess what you are telling me is that for the plugin the new GA4 setup is transparent correct? The plugin only talks to the container and there the container’s id that is configured remains the same right?

Thanks as usual for your awesome support.

    Hi,

Yes, GTM4WP only includes codes that will utilize GTM with data and then GTM and your container setup will decide where and how this data will land.

@thedrap How do I go about setting up GA4 Enhanced Ecommerce on my wordpress site? @duracelltomi
