As for updates, we always recommend the quasi-standard of testing them on a staging site first, to make sure everything works well after the update, and to make sure your production site stays accessible.
I’m sorry to hear you feel your subscription was a waste. Events Calendar Pro offers extra features like 4 additional calendar views, recurring events, event series, embedding the calendar with shortcodes, to name a few. If you choose to open a support ticket I’d be happy to hear about what it was you were looking for that you didn’t find. And in case you are still within 30 days of your purchase, you can make use of our refund policy.
You mentioned “one location”. While the context is not fully clear, I guess you mean that you can assign only one location to one event. Yes, that is how our events work (and based on your other plugin reviews it looks like most of the event plugins work like this). A different venue means a different event.
