I wrote to the Amazon Auto Links guys in order to ask if their plugin could render/import AALB shortcodes.

Maybe, if there are many people asking for this feature, they will implement it to add hundreds of AALB users to their user base.

Do not install this plugin and if you have it you need to uninstall it.
It bloats the dbase to many 100’s of megabytes and is a badly developed plugin.
Now Amazon stops it.
The thing is that the plugin makes shortcodes with amazon product id’s (or something like that) and you are unable to “convert” them to something else. They are not links. They are shortcodes that call some jscript from amazon and show products.
So, you have to find them via phpmyadmin wildcard search for i.e. “[amazon_links asin * OR something like that and remove them. Then you need to manually add links using the amazon stripe (with shortener) to EACH post.
Way too amateurism from Amazon.

Plus, I received no mail from Amazon. Found that is stops the plugin through a forum in FB.

Yes, the solution is not that easy, because all links stop going to work as well.

I guess even when we have a solution We will have to go and edit all articles and change links before that given date March 9th, 2020.

They leaving us with no solution, that’s so sad.

@nicolaottomano The Blog Fixer has a fix for this! It’s not cheap, but it’s easier than doing it by hand.

I have reprogrammed the aalb plugin so it uses the new api. It has been in production use for a week now. So far it works fine.

If anyone is interested in testing or using it, send me a direct message and I will provide it to you. WordPress did not approve it yet, so it is currently not available in the WordPress plugin directory.
