• Recently a plugin update was installed. And all my buttons were deleted during the update. This done, shortcodes which had put on some of my pages no longer appear. And this is not the first time this happens. This plugin is definitely deleted from my website. I advice everyone not to install this plugin, or buy, as the developer of this plugin does not rectify the problem. For it is certainly a method to force pesonnes having a free version to force them to move to a paid version.

If you at least would have take the effort to click to the support forums, one might have noticed several solutions for the problem for a well supported plugin…

I’m sorry, but it is not after an update it is necessary go to the forum to find a solution. Once the update is complete and that the records have been lost, it is too late.

It is for you, the developer, to make sure that your update does not overwrite the linked data. I have fifty plugins, and it does this ever happened with them.

Now it is too late, and I have repaired the problem with an alternative, simpler and safer.

If to fix an update problem that happens in less then 1% of the cases -and- takes *4* clicks to fix ( 2 on the support forums, 2 on the plugin ).

To make false claims here is a lot more effort then to actually fixing the problem:

    1) We actually have support
    2) The plugin doesn’t overwrite anything, your old stuff is still there
    3) There is a 30 sec. click-click fix for this.
    4) It’s the first time this happens.

So, since you know the problem and the solution, why not have it implemented in the verification process after updating.

Furthermore, you claim that I make false statements. This is not the case, since the problem exists and you know it. But you do not do anything to solve it directly into the update procedure.

    Hey Donut,

Thank you for your review. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention. As you know from Bas we’re aware of the issues that have occurred with a very small portion of the installation base. Like you we are not pleased with it either from a user experience point of view.

You should know that in reality we wince whenever someone has any issue with our plugins and that we do everything in our power to test before releasing and to fix issues as they come along.

For instance we have a routine we run with the installation of version 3 that creates a new table and migrates your buttons. When first released this caused issues for a few folks because sometimes WordPress wouldn’t run the routine. So we built a check into the system to rerun the routine in that case. And almost all of these issues went away. So in that respect you are special but not in a way that makes you or us happy.

Although we continue trying to figure out a a more comprehensive solution, the easy fix is what Bas has suggested above. We wish all of the installations would go seamlessly and we are trying hard to make it that way.

But in doing this routine and moving on with version 3 you get a completely rewritten plugin and all of the things we’ll be adding into in in the future.

Again, we are sorry you ran into issues.

    Best,

Bob, Bas and the rest of the Max Foundry team.

    Thank you for your response.

But also understand that when you have a commercial site, and you find that the links do not work anymore because of a plugin that has lost its data, it annoys a can.

I prefer to solve the problem as quickly as possible by a more simple and safe solution, rather than having to spend time searching for solutions on forums, at the risk of missed solution.

    Sincerely.
