Hi lechon, This is a very strong accusation. We don’t steal information and nobody is getting spammed…

By all means don’t take my word for it. Just go ahead and Google “shareaholic spam”.

Why did Shareaholic never reply to this comment? I did google that phrase. There are some pretty damning articles, e.g.

“the plugin actually hijacks links in blog posts. Whenever the plugin recognizes a link to one of the merchants they work with, the link is re-written.”

By not giving a justifiable explanation, you are making yourselves look as guilty as hell!

I was going to use your plugin, despite the one-star reviews. But I can’t now when you will not – or cannot – explain your actions.

    Hi @stevenw123

It will steal your visitors information and then a few weeks later they will be spamed with eMails.

^ This was a baseless allegation, with no real evidence provided. And as we said, if that were the case, we would want to fix it immediately. So either way, more information would have been appreciated.

    Your question is relevant:

Re “Spam”. As context, Shareaholic offers several Site Monetization tools to help site owners monetize their site content. Details here.

Yes, we had an issue where spammy ads were making their way through the system. Since then, we have added additional scrutiny and given these spammy advertisers the axe. We also added a mechanism by which you can block advertisers.

Re “Hijacking”. “the plugin actually hijacks links in blog posts…” refers to the Affiliatize Links App (part of the Monetization toolkit). Yes, we did make mistakes initially when we were rolling out the new feature. We learned our lessons from it and made adjustments as quickly as we could to incorporate the feedback and fix the issues. Back then, we posted about it here.

Since 2014, we have made big advancements to better the user experience and continue to work towards making it even better. After 2M+ plugin downloads, Shareaholic for WordPress maintains an overall rating of 4+. We are proud of this and continue to strive towards a 5!

    Total Bull!
Your plugin is going to spam users with junk mail, it did it then and I will do it now. You will also ruin your users’ experience with popup ads.
