• I’ve only just now noticed that I have lost a major feature in WP1.5. Unless someone can point it out for me, I can no longer prevent automatic pingbacks for urls in my post. I used to be able to clear a checkbox to prevent it fronm hitting sites I know will not be able to accept the ping. I do this on a regular basis, and sometimes it causes a slow down when posting. I see the “Send trackbacks to:” optioin, but that doesn’t really help me in this situation. There is also an option in the Discussion Options area, “Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)” but that controls all posts. I want to be able to control it per post. It looks like it’s become an all or nothing setting. Not good.

  • Isn’t it in the advanced writing options, TG? You could just set your writing options to automatically go advanced when writing posts and you’ll always see the option.

I read that option “Allow pings” to be for incoming, whereas what TG (and I and others) would like is an option to switch pings on / off from us per post.

Oh….I thought it worked both ways….I never realizied. (Quite honestly, never paid attention.) Other than to remember to shorthand my own links to avoid pinging myself.

Already using the advanced controls… and yes, podz has got my issue spot on. Most times I do want it on, but in some cases, I know the site I’m linking to doesn’t support it, and sometimes I link back to other posts in my own site…. I supposed I *could* turn it off globaly, publish my post, then turn it back on…. but that’s a load.
