Plugin contains huge performance issue if the sites has more then +100 posts.
On line 68 of post-word-count.php there is a function that calls on init and load all posts from the database and calculating the wordcount for each post. This is not required and will possible “kill” any server preformace you want to have. After disabling the plugin number of Queries went down from 900 to 40…

It is slightly better but still not 100% optimised for speed still requests the posts for word count instead of doing it on post save and save it as meta data. That is faster… How ever it doe it every page view for every page…
