    I have tried using several other caching plugins with mixed results. It seems like the latest one I tried might (not 100 percent sure) have added bad code to my htaccess file so I removed it.

    Do we need other caching plugins such as WP Fastest Cache, W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache etc… on top of Autoptimize?

    yes, as AO does not do page caching, I indeed advice to use e.g. WP Super Cache or KeyCDN Cache Enabler or one of the many others.

    happy optimizing,

    Frank many people say AO is a caching plugin. What is the “official” name for what AO are is/doing.

    MINIMIZER?

    well, AO can do;
    * CSS/ JS aggregation
    * CSS/ JS/ HTML minification
    * deferring optimized JS
    * loading CSS in a non-render-blocking manner
    * Image optimization
    * Google Font optimization
    * some other optimizations (preloading, asyncing, emoji removal, version string removal, ..)

    so caching is not correct, minimizing is part of the functionality. Performance Optimizer, I guess? ??

    NOW I am getting more confused :-))
    thnx frank!
