Names of fields in documentation are not in real product, and being COMPLETELY NEW to the product do not have knowledge to know what the documentation writer really meant.

Example “Restrictions” is now apparently “Access Conditions”. And this just keeps going on-and-on, so it’s obvious the documentation is *really* old, and the developers don’t have time to update it, because they are rolling in cash from all the people who buy the plugin without any usable documentation…

This may be obvious to long-time users, but it is confusing as hell to someone who is new to the plugin and is struggling to use it.

What I want to do is install the plugin, and then block every page on my site to anyone who is not logged-in. That means i gave them an account, and they logged-in with the password; otherwise, they can get a 404-page as far as i am concerned. But it might be nice to be able to specify the page to which they are redirected.

Is this possible with this plugin?

    Thank you,
    John

Thank you for your feedback. I acknowledge that the documentation is outdated and needs an overhaul, it is something that is high on my todo-list, but unfortunately I have not yet had the time.

I am the only person behind RUA at the moment, and while the commercial add-ons do allow me to spend more time on support and development of the core plugin, I still have a full time job unrelated to WordPress. I just want to be transparent about that RUA is in no way a plugin I created for the money, and I apologize if the plugin description/lack of documentation can be perceived that way.

With that said, I’ll be happy to help you get the plugin setup.

    1. Create a new Access Level (A) and add Special Pages: 404 to the conditions. Under the Members tab, sync the level with Non-logged in users, and under the Options tab select Default Access: Restricted content only
    2. Create another Access Level (B). Under the Members tab, sync the level with Logged-in users, and under the Options tab select Extend Level: A.

This should ensure that members of level A can only access the 404 page, while members of level B can access all content restricted by level A, as well as all other unrestricted content.

Let me know if this does not work for you.

Thank you for the response, and the valuable time it took to make that response.

I deleted all of my failed attempts to use the RUA plugin, and then followed your instructions.

Perfect! Things are now working the way i would expect them to work.

    Again, Thank you.
