I know that in web-to-lead when a lead arrives, you can trigger a default assignment rule in Salesforce to assign the lead. There is also a default response template, allowing you to send a customized message to the email address in the lead.

I want to do this via the API plugin, but I am having a hard time getting the lead assignment rule in Salesforce to fire when the API plugin stores the lead from the Gravity form in Salesforce. The API plugin stores the lead perfectly. I’ve turned on monitoring in Salesforce — there are no errors.

I set the assignment rule up to fire when the lead source matches a text string from a hidden field on the Gravity form. The text arrives and is stored in Lead Source, but while it matches the assignment rule condition, the rule doesn’t fire.

Is there a way to make the Gravity Salesforce API trigger an assignment rule in Salesforce?

When using the standard Web to Lead Version of this Plugin my form is able to trigger the active assignment rule.

When using the API only the plugin fails to trigger the active assignment rule.

When using both the plugin triggers the active assignment rule and creates duplicate leads in the SFDC.

The API is strong however, I am going to assume that the same problem is going to occur when creating cases.

Perhaps there is a way in the coding to have a check box that triggers the web to lead or web to case form action.
