Does importing from Livejournal delete LJ entries?

I’ve looked through the documentation here and at LJ and think I understand the import from LJ fairly well. The one answer I can’t seem to find is to whether my LJ entries will be removed or deleted if I import them to WP.

I want my LJ to remain as is and don’t want to delete my entries. Does importing do this?
