• Hey guys. for a while ive used wordpress for my entire site. my old hosting provider(as of yesterday) was garbage and i decided to switch to a reliable provider. now. i am trying to get my wordpress files off the old server VIA ftp and it keeps failing to download. i did however get one successful download BUT I have a problem. after all of the failed attempts, there are many duplicate renamed files in amongst the originals. im soo tired of trying to get a copy of that folder. so my question is, can i upload what i have with the duplicates and would it still be fine? this is a nightmare and i have sooooooooo much work put into the site.

    thanks,
    zacho56

  • What wordpress version you using and your old host is it cpanel as there is way to zip the folder in cpanel and then download the zip file.

Why? The only files you really need are those in the uploads folder and possibly a copy of your custom theme (if you have one).

you need to copy your wp-content folder and DB backup only to move the server.

i cant even get the wp-content downloaded. FFS >.<

You must be on a slow connection not able to download your wp-content folder.
