• Hi,
I have a WP site that has a lot of useful Q&A’s for my viewers to read and learn from. The standard WP search does not find any of the terms that I search for and that are only used in the comments.
Does your Google Custom Search search comments? It is not obvious in the documentation. How does it affect ranking?
If it does work that way that would be Excellent ??
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Janek

  • This plugin uses the Google custom search feature, hence the Google index.

If comments are shown on the page, Google indexes them (assuming it’s not a 3rd party commenting solution in an iframe or rendered via javascript).

As to how it affects ranking — it’s up to Google’s ever changing algorithm.

    Hi Nick,
    Thanks for the reply.

Since posting the question I have been watching (with Analytics) the pages that viewers are directed to based on the search query.
It does seem that comments and the replies are indexed as they seem to go directly to the pages with those relevant comments.

As for ranking – well I guess we are all scratching our heads over that puzzle ??
