Nice interface, but I’m kinda concerned about the plugin requiring the htaccess to be rewritable (644).
When I turn the file back to 444 permissions and visit the Spider Blocker settings, the settings page of Spider Blocker gives me an error page and turns the plugin off.

The plugin needs the .htaccess file to be writable since the bot block rules go into the .htaccess file as well as the robots.txt file.

And it has a check to verify if the file is writable. In case it is not, the plugin is de-activated automatically.
