• Hi,

Do you know if this plugin will work on WP Engine?

I see that caching could potentially cause issues and WP Engine has their own caching system rather than using a plugin.

I’ve tried using it on a site and manually added a URL that was showing a 404 error, hoping to change it to a 410 gone. I’ve cleared cache at the host and so far I’m still seeing a 404 rather than 410.

    Thanks,
    Todd

  • Hey Todd,

Cosper from WP Engine here. Can I have you try to run a curl before and after you clear the cache to see what the headers look like? If you don’t have access to curl (see: you aren’t on a Mac or Linux machine or aren’t comfortable with the command line) a tool like Online Curl should help.

Mainly I want to see if the response header returns a 404 or 410. Also, I want to make sure your cache is actually clearing.

I installed this on a test site at WP Engine and received a 410 response after configuring the plugin at Plugins -> 410 for WordPress. Once you give it some resources to 410, you should see them too.

If that continues to not be the case, please open a ticket with WP Engine support.
