I know the page caching is largely a no-go, but I’m wondering if the object caching (using Redis) works well with Buddypress?

Several sources recommend Redis with Buddypress, but there are sort of mixed messages going on whether it actually works properly or not.

For instance, the moderator shanebp at Buddypress’ site has stated the following several times against object caching:

shanebp: But, object caching for WP can cause issues with BP because the object is not refreshed on a reload or ajax call.
Even if you set the cache to refresh every few seconds, there will still be issues like the one you found.
And page caching is much worse.

With that said, I’ve seen mentions on these support threads a couple years ago about an extension with LScache that made it work well with Buddypress.

Does such an extension exist still or is there a way/instructions to get LScache utilizing object cache to work properly with BuddyPress?

    Hi,

page cache is no go , the object cache should work , there is some control for how long it caches or what group it caches you can tune

    Best regards,
