Does Jetpack Hovercard Work Only for Primary Email

Are there limitations to Gravatar Hovercards for email addresses that aren’t the primary email address associated with a Gravatar account?
I know that you can have multiple Gravatars, each linked to different emails, but there seems to be a problem with the hovercard (not the Gravatar) if the email associated with it isn’t the primary for the Gravatar account.
I can see my Gravatar on my comments (and in settings), and I can double click on the Gravatar and then see my full Gravatar profile, but the intermediate step is missing–I can’t actually see a hovercard when I hover over my Gravatar. (What I can see is like an endlessly spinning hourglass, as if it’s trying to work.) This is only true for a secondary Gravatar; hovering over my primary Gravatar does show the hovercard.
(I’ve noticed this happens to some of my visitors’ Gravatars as well.)
Is there a fix for this? Some setting I’m missing?
