Does Kitten’s Spaminator check Trackbacks & Pingbacks?

    is anyone using Kitten’s Spaminator? Does it work on the spam Trackbacks & Pingbacks? After I installed it, all that huge amount of comment spam that I got, was caught & deleted but for the past 2 days, I’ve been getting spam Trackbacks & Pingbacks from everywhere & Spaminator is not acting on them. Can anyone suggest why?

    The trackbacks & pingbacks doesn’t contain any links or blacklisted words, so maybe that’s why Spaminator is not catching them. Just some nonsense like

    from some freak named mbvnwugc from the IP 65.25.143.195. Clearly the purpose of this is not link popularity as its in comment spam. I think that this is a frustrated reaction of the spammer as he can’t get any of his spam comments through my defenses.

    Can anyone suggest anything? Please do not suggest closing down trackbacks etc on old posts as I wouldn’t want to block legit trackbacks to old posts of mine.

    Basically it subjects all trackbacks to the same filters as your comments, which you control in the dashboard. A 1.2 version is in the works, too.

    Yeah. I’m kinda having that same problem as you Bampi where the trackbacks are still going through. I still don’t know why they’re not checking the trackbacks. ??

    If you get the current version of Spaminator from the plugins repo:
    https://dev.wp-plugins.org/browser/spaminator/trunk/

    and are using a nightly from Jan/05/05 or later, it’ll filter comments, trackbacks and pingbacks.

    Guess I’ll have to upgrade sooner then, as I’m still on v1.2

    I just noticed that Spaminator blocked my own pingback when I referenced one of my previous posts in a current one. Any guidance on making sure settings are such that legitimate trackbacks will go through?

    I’m currently running with it set at 3 strikes because it let through half a dozen spams when I had it set for 5.
