Does multisite create a folder in root for each site?

  • So I am trying to set up multisite with subdomains on a hosting accoutn PCextreme.nl

    When I create a new site, subdomain.mydomain.tld and subdomain.mydomain.tld/wp-admin return a ‘Not Found’ error to the browser.

    Via FTP I noticed that no new subdomain folder was created. So, just to rule this out: when you create a new site within multisite, is it supposed to create a folder by the name of the intended subdomain in the root folder?
