    Hello all!
I’trying to install on a server and get:
    There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file…. etc.
Which is not true, the file is there.
The second alternative running the setup-config.php gives the same result:
Sorry, I need a wp-config-sample.php file to work from… etc.
But of course the file is there.
    How come?

I have installed WordPress several times on other servers and never had any problems before.

    Thank’s in advance,
    Helgi ?–rn

  • What is different about the actual server from the previous installs you have done ?

Older versions of Apache, MySQL and PHP. Linux server (the others are FreeBSD). Uses localhost instead of for example mysql.mydomain.com.

What I did before, never delete the wordpress-config-sample, just make a copy of the wordpress sample….renamed to wp-config.php. That’s it. You should have the wp-config-sample.php file and (a copy of) the wp-config.php file in your directory in the FTP. I’m just guessing…but moshu or someone should be able to help.

Oh, I have actually several times installed locally on Linux and Mac OS X boxes, without problems.

The versions are Apache 1.3.27 PHP 4.3.10

The wp-config-php file is rw-r-r– (644), is that as it should be?

phpMyAdmin is now working OK on the same server, WordPress still doesn’t find the files and I’m stuck… ??

The problem is solved: According to the webhotell support they thought this might have been because the server was in safe mode, they made some small changes in their scripts and voila!
The support was closed during the weekend, and I was supposed to work on this the whole weekend.

    Cheers,
