• Difficult to work with, limited options, in general, a disappointment. No option to adjust the number of tweets displayed, also couldn’t use CSS override the font size in the header. Basic stuff.

I expected more from the “official” Twitter plugin, but this is not user-friendly at all.

Which plugin feature were you using where you expected to be able to adjust the number of Tweets displayed? This plugin does not currently support Twitter timelines, which have a limit option; if you configured a timeline on publish.twitter.com or a search timeline on twitter.com/settings/widgets and brought it into a HTML widget area then you would have already configured your Twitter timeline widget outside of this plugin.

Again, it’s likely you are referring to a Twitter timeline and its header component. A Twitter timeline does not support customizing the timeline header; you can remove the header component through a data-chrome option. Any plugin offering a customization would be reaching inside a rendered widget to alter rendered markup that could change at any time.
