I have found that I need to refresh the browser before it prints only the target. If I don’t do the refresh then it prints everything on the page.

    sorry to hear that.
    which browser, which page?
are any js errors being thrown?

I had checked and there were no js errors. I had tried it on Chrome and Safari and on both Apple and Windows platform and had the same problem. However, I am thinking that it might be a caching problem. I’ve tried it with a newly created account and it worked as expected and if I try it without logging in with an account it works as well.

Thank you for posting your findings.

I am having a similar problem.

When I click on the “Print” icon, it initially prints everything on the page, including the site header.

However if I cancel the first print attempt and then try it again straight away (without refreshing the browser or clearing the cache), it prints the target content correctly.

I am using the plugin on a food blog I am building using Elementor, and calling the print shortcode via an Advanced Custom Field link.

I am confident that I have the shortcode and also the CSS Class on the section I want to print entered correctly, and the fact that it works on the second print attempt seems to bear this out.

However, I am concerned that a potential user may abandon the recipe and the blog if the first print attempt always results in extra unwanted content.

I would appreciate any comments or assistance.

@mc1969: does is work as expected if you not logging in with an account?
if not, please share a link so we can do some basic troubleshooting.

    Ah yes! Silly me!

I realise now that the problem only occurs when I am logged into the back end of the site as administrator.

When I log out and view any recipe in any browser everything works exactly as it should.

I’m pretty sure that takes care of the problem, but if I still have any issues in the future I’ll open another ticket.

Many thanks for your quick reply and assistance.

Out of curiosity, why does it matter if you are logged in. Is it caching or some other reason? I have tried multi ways to eliminate caching but to no success. I’m not sure where to proceed as one of the requirements is for the user to be logged in to be able to print this item.

Are you using eliminator? It seems that this issue just started popping up, and since neither shared a link to troubleshoot, we’ll have to wait until more feedback comes in and we can find out why this is happing on some (elementor?) sites.

What you might try is to see if the latest release candidate resolves the issue:
    https://github.com/baden03/print-o-matic

Other than that, stay tuned for when more info is available to troubleshoot the issue.

I’m using Beaver Builder. It is a little difficult sharing a link on an open site when you need an account to see the problem.

One other thing that I have discovered. It appears to only have a problem with an Admin account. If I create an account with subscriber privileges then there is no problem. If I change that account to have Admin privileges then I need to refresh the page to just get the targeted item. If I change the account back to subscriber then the problem is gone.

We have just released 2.1.4 that should fix this issue:
    https://github.com/baden03/print-o-matic/releases/tag/2.14

It should be pushed to the WordPress repo later today.
Let us know if this resolves the issue for you.
