• Unfortunately the plugin stopped working (it worked before) due to unknown reasons, after investigation (with the help of the plugin support which where very kind!) we found that the only viable solution was to disable the plugin and move on. For some unknown reason an Ipv6 /64 (or maybe larger) has been blocked and the plugin only wats to communicate over ipv6.

If you have a server where google site page does not work, check if it works with ipv6 and then with ipv4 and see if that works; if so; just uninstall it, nobody can help you, except asking you to disable ipv6 on a server which is just not viable (and i really do not understand how someone can tell this as a possible workaround). You just have bad luck with all your customers wanting to use sitekit. I must say this i expected better from google on this, we are not just a small hosting provider and many clients are affected.

Maybe this will resolved somewhere in the future, but my guess is that google just sweeps whole networks larger as /64 in ipv6 and blocks them due to some reason, and take the rest for colleteral damage. Unfortunately a tactic we see being used by more large companies.

Sorry to hear of your review @rainboy72, and appreciate the support mention.

You are also correct in that the issue you were/are facing with setting up Site Kit is in relation to your IPv6 address being blocked. These can occur if it’s within a range that also contains some IP addresses from regions where Google services are blocked (ie. Iran). When this occurs, hosting providers can assist by adding an “IPGeo Feed“, tagging your own IP or by ensuring communication with sitekit.withgoogle.com is done over IPv4 only.

Sorry again to hear of your thoughts on the plugin, however, the block you are facing is not a Site Kit block. It’s a network level block based on your IPv6 address, which your hosting provider may be able to assist with.

If you have any other queries, you know where to find us should you wish to give the plugin another try going forward. In many cases these blocks are temporary. Best of luck.

sorry this IP range is a RIPE IP range and thus european. And google is blocking, not the network as we connect to the sitekit server, and it provides a 403 back, this is google site kits website not some network.

@rainboy72 I’m just following up with you to check if the issue remains on your site? I ask as we have created a mini plugin that will ensure communication occurs over IPv4 only, with more details added to this guide on the plugin website.

Let me know if you need any assistance with this.
