• It installs from the “New Plugins” menu.

I then go to the “Appearances -> Widgets” page, which now shows an area titled “Arbitrary” in the sidebar widgets area. If I drag a widget (from a different plugin, and yes, it works in the sidebar – I just don’t want it there, I want it in its own page) to this “Arbitrary” area and save the widget there, it appears to generate a shortcode for the widget. The generated shortcode is of the form [widget id=”mailchimpsf_widget-2″].

If I paste the generated shortcode in a page (with the text tab selected) and save the page, when I view the page there is no widget displayed. I have no other text in the page, just the generated shortcode.

Are you sure it isn’t another plugin conflicting with it? I’ve installed it on two different sites running 3.8.1 and it works perfectly.

My experience was with WordPress 3.8.0, and I have not retried it with 3.8.1. There may well have been a change that allows it to work with 3.8.1.
