Does not work for WP 4.1 StoreFront Theme 1.2.4

WP 4.1 + StoreFront Theme 1.2.4
I can see the “HomePage” option under “Appearance”, but toggling on or off the various option has no effect on the home page.
An update would be great. StoreFront is a really good clean theme for what we are trying to do and the only thing preventing us is the product listing on the home page. (we just want content on the home page, and products on their category pages).
