• Yes, this plug in does in fact create og tags. But you have no way of editing those tags. So you can’t change your social media post descriptions, or the image, or title, or anything else. And all the social media sites I’ve seen basically are able to grab the existing data even without og tags. So the net effect of this plugin is nothing: All social media shares stay exactly the same. At least, in my experience.

    hi @zandarkoad

First of all, thank you for your time and this review.

If the plugin does not work, please add a thread to support threads: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/og/ and we can try to figure out where is a problem.

Could you provide site URL and turn on OG plugin? I will check in a page source effect of plugin work – maybe you have right.

And please do not make a mistake, even some pages have the ability to read all the interesting data, there is no guarantee it is a proper data. This is a reason to use OpenGraph protocol.

Changed from a two star to a four star review just because you responded.

The website in question is https://Doak.io

I used a different plugin to implement OG tags that I can actually manipulate. And even with that, LinkedIn’s post inspector (https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/inspect/) refuses to use the meta tags I create. Following their directions to the letter (by adding <meta property=”og:type” content … > to the source code) still doesn’t result in LinkedIn seeing the tags.

So clearly, the problem is not with your plugin. But I can’t use your plugin to troubleshoot, since it just loads the default OG values anyway (which are insufficient for our purposes). But I’ll try your plugin again after we figure out the other problem to see what results it gives. I may be able to give a five star review after all… It’s just going to take time.

    Cheers!

    Hi @zandarkoad

Thank you for the explanation and increasing stars.

OG plugin is a very small and simple plugin without any configuration.

Did you test only some open graph plugin without any other?

I checked now on followed inspector and there is no any warning or error:

    https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/inspect/http:%2F%2Fint505.pl%2F2018%2F08%2F13%2Fmistrzostwa-swiata-w-gdyni-duzym-sukcesem-organizacyjnym%2F

    OG use:
    – og:type
    – article:section (categories)
    – article:tag (tags)

    and a few others.

I hope you can solve your issue.

    Have a good day.

    Marcin
