Does Storefront theme have some kind of microdata, if so how can I access it?

The reason for me asking is that I learned that Merchant Center shows wrong prices (4 zeros too much) on my products because my sites microdata incorrect prices. I use no plugin that includes microdata.

  • Hi @boppar,

I’m curious, since you opened this thread on the Storefront theme, by any chance did you test if you switch your theme to another theme does the issue go away? OR what led you to believe the issue lies with Storefront?

The theme shouldn’t affect this, the amount of decimal numbers to be used in your store is defined in the WooCommer General Settings → Currency options → Number of decimals. How many decimals does it show on your store? Is the problem only with GMC?

Additionally, may I know which plugin are you using to sync your products to Google Merchant Center?

In the meantime, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

    • System Status Report?which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
    • Fatal error logs?(if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further.

    Thanks!

I read that the issue could be theme-related. The problem isn’t with the decimals. In GMC Next it shows 4 zeros too much before the comma. The site shows the right prices.
I use no plugin to sync my products to GMC. My products goes to GMC by an automated feed.

    Hello boppar

    Thank you for your reply.

The Storefront?does not have any code that should affect the product prices in any way.
This theme only focuses on the website appearance and some other navigation features like Search, Menus, and Widgets.

Could you please explain the method you are using to send your product feed to GMC automatically?
Any references or links will be helpful.

To resolve this issue, I recommend reaching out to GMC support.
As you said, the site is showing correct prices and the problem appears on the GMC side.

Please let me know about your findings.
Sharing your solution here will be helpful for other Woo users. ??

    Best regards.

The solution can’t be very helpful for other Woo users if I follow your recommendation to search a solution with GMS support instead of here.

The GMC support was clear the the problem is on the WordPress side.
Regarding sending sending the product feed to GMC automatically. GMC Next automatically detects product data from the website and pulls it into the platform.

    Hi @boppar

The Storefront theme does not directly include or handle microdata. It’s primarily focused on your site’s visual presentation and doesn’t affect how product data is outputted for things like Google Merchant Center. Product data, including pricing, is managed by WooCommerce itself and any plugins you may be using for product management.

However, it seems like there’s a misunderstanding between your site’s microdata and GMC Next’s automatic detection. The issue you’re experiencing might be related to how GMC Next interprets the data from your website. More info: https://feedonomics.com/blog/new-features-and-feed-limitations-of-google-merchant-center-next/

I recommend considering using a plugin that specifically handles the creation of product feeds for Google Merchant Center, such as the Google Listings & Ads. This can give you more control over the data being sent and how it’s formatted.

Additionally, you can reach out to GMC support again with this new information. It might be helpful to clarify that your theme (Storefront) does not handle product data or microdata, and that you’re not using any plugins that would affect this.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or if there’s anything else we can do to assist you.

    Hi @shameemreza

Thanks for a helpful answer. The article was interesting.

I try to avoide unnecessary plugins. Just about all the product feed plugins have bad reviews, specially the plugin you recommended. Thanks anyway.
